» Kate Strong Breaks 3 World Records!!
Jun 15, 2021
Back on May 26th Kate Strong from Keynsham, England attempted and unofficially broke 3 world records on a static bike. We say unofficially because it will take Guinness a few months to verify and officially make them world records.
Records broke by Kate:
- 1 hr. Record - 24.2 miles, breaking the previous record of 23.94 which was held by her.
- 12 hr. Record - 232.1 miles, breaking the previous record of 216.24 miles which was held by Slovenian athlete Tina Ternjak.
- 24 hr. Record - Kate rode non-stop for 24 hours. She is the first female athlete to ever achieve the record of a woman cycling on a static bike for 24 hours.
Kate started her journey in 2012 when she began to focus on her passions and changed to a plant-based diet. The change to her diet was exactly what she needed stating..
“ I went vegan in 2012 after realizing that my lung capacity was holding me back. As an asthmatic, I had often struggled with a shortness of breath but after removing dairy from my diet I found that within weeks I was no longer wheezy and was able to run much faster. In addition, it also cleared up my eczema and improved my sleeping pattern.".
Within two years Kate became the 2014 women's world champion in long distance triathlon. Attributing part of her success to the change in her diet.
Kate is not stopping there in addition to the 3 world records broke, she is also planning to tackle the Limitless Challenge between June 2022 and May 2023. This never before attempted 3-part challenge will include:
- 3, 000 mile bike ride across America in the Race Across America (RAAM) event, which is the longest ultra-running event in the world. Stretches across 12 states with 190,000 feet of climbing.
- 21 mile swim across the English Channel where water temps will be any where form 57 degrees to 64 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Finally finishing with climbing the highest peak in the world Mt. Everest!
Congratulations Kate!! We are looking forward to watching you crush this epic journey over the next few years.
