“For every thousand dollars donated to our quarterly mission fund, Paul and I will ride a mile” said Larry Henney, PCG Texas athlete.  Little did they know that the congregation at Lakeside Baptist Church in Granbury Texas would raise an astonishing gift to missions of $125,000.

So, on Monday October 17, Larry Henney and his cycling buddy, Paul Rummage took off on their challenge of 125 miles.  Neither had ever ridden over 100 miles in a single day!  Larry started coaching with PCG Associate Coach Keith Nelson just three weeks before the event, who is mentored by PCG Elite Coach Rickey Wray Wilson.  With only a few weeks to build and taper for the big day, Keith and Rickey focused Sweet Spot, FRC and Recovery workouts with a mini-taper the last week before the event.  They shared insights into nutrition, hydration, and the mental aspects of going long. After their power analysis, Larry knew where to keep his power output to manage his efforts and comlete the ride.

Larry and Paul were supported by Larry’s wife, Kim and a few others along the way. On Monday, October 17 Larry and Paul completed their first 100+ mile ride ever.

Congratulations Larry and Paul!
