Two weeks before IM Louisville,
Sarah raced a 10 mile road race to test her legs and fitness. She won it with a
1:11 or 7:06 per mile pace. “It felt easy,” she said after the race.
The weeks leading up to the race
Sarah and her coach Bill Earthman had several conversation on pacing and
strategy. We really wanted to dial in her numbers, but did want her to be
paralyzed by them and not enjoy the day or get into the flow of the race. With
her training complete and pacing numbers dialed in, Sarah went into IM
Louisville rested and confident that she could reach her goal of qualifying for
the IM World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. Sticking to her pacing plan Sarah
swam a 1:02, biked a 5:49 over the 112 miles, and ran a blistering 3:42
marathon to finish in 10:46 and a second place age group finish. Most
importantly, she reached her goal of qualifying for Kona!!
Congrats Sarah!
