Coach Bill takes second at the Pinecone

Peaks’ Coach Bill Brunner took the second step, behind Joe Manacchio, at the Pinecone 55+ Road Race. The final Road Race in the Maxxis Garden State Cup proved to be the hottest of the year as temperature inched over 90 degrees. Bill defended the Orange Jersey as the Cup leader. Constant attacks by the strong men paid no dividends as the peloton brought them all back. The final rush was a battle of position into a 90 degree turn on rough pavement followed by the dash to the line. All the fast men found their way to the front. Bill found his way to the right side and opened up while Joe took the left side crossing the line for the win. Coach Bill retains the Orange Jersey going into next week’s hilly Flanders Time Trial.
