Haby
took 1st place at the fifth SERC race at the Georgia International Horse Park,
Conyers, age group XC3 40-49 on May 19, 2013. This was Haby’s first win since
he started racing in 2011. With the win, Haby took the lead in the Georgia
State Championship (GSC) points. The Conyers race was part of both the SERC and
GSC point series and Haby is only competing in the GSC series this year. The
race was full of excitement as it was raining the whole day and there was mud
all over the course. There were multiple lead changes caused by falls and
mechanicals. Haby was leading and lost the lead twice due to one fall and one
mechanical but took the final lead at the end of the second lap to never look
back. Drama was not over as he experienced another mechanical closed to the
finish line and was caught by the second rider but pulled away in the last
straight before the finish line. Congratulations to Haby on his first SERC/GSC
win!
