Ken Nickerson set out on his first Brevet (Boston 400k, New England Randonneurs) on June 8th 2019. He wasn't exactly sure what to expect and was planning to take it at a comfortable pace to finish in under 20 hours. Then he found himself in the front group of 5 riders moving along at what felt like an OK pace. He explained to his Coach, Karen Mackin, that it was just a little faster than he had planned, but it was nicer to ride with the group than solo. So he went along with them... ALL the way to the finish! He said, "Somehow I was able to stay with the fastest 5 other riders. My legs were shaking at the end and I could barely stand, but I managed not to get dropped." The group set a course record of 13:50 hours! What a ride!
