Big congratulations to Karen Umaña who yesterday got 4th place in the 2nd Annual Gravel Maniac race in Guatemala. This is the second year this race is held which is put together by the organizers of El Reto del Quetzal. The conditions were treacherous with an average temperature of 91°F and reached a max temperature of 123°F! Karen is coached by PCG Elite Coach Jaime Tolentino who added: “This is a marquee event in Guatemala which last year was completed by only two women. The organizers advise to the participants to hydrate for several days leading to the event was spot on as the high temperatures coupled with the long distances (90 and 155km) could require the full day to complete. I’m extremely happy for Karen to have finished such a demanding event and to podium was an outstanding result!"
