This
past weekend, Nick Stanko got back to racing as a running injury had him
sidelined the past few weeks. He got
back in fine fashion by taking the overall win at the Michigan Titanium Half
Ironman in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Nick
started out well by coming out of the water near the front. Very early in the bike, he had taken over as
the race leader and spent the rest of the day in front. He was having a strong bike on a challenging
course, but the blazing sun and unaccustomed heat started taking a toll near
the end of the bike leg. On the run,
Nick settled into a conservative pace to avoid aggravating the injury and came
in at 4:17 after leading most of the race for another overall win.
