Ben Woodside on Team Revolution from Sacramento, CA was one of the first 30 to finish the Death Ride on July 14 in 8 hour and 23 minutes crushing his goal of under 9 hours.  The Death Ride is 129 miles and 15,000 feet of climbing in one day.  There are 5 climbs, each lasting longer than an hour and Ben climbed Carson Pass in just over 90 minutes.  That's flying!.  The weather was very cooperative for most of the ride.  As you can see he was able to keep his HR below threshold during the long climbs, sorry no power data.

All those long days in the saddle paid off.
