On May 1st 2013, Lynette Ngo stands on
the podium of the Tour of Friendship Stage Race, Bangkok, Thailand. This race featured 5 grueling hilly stages
from April 27th to May 1st. This was
Lynette's very first stage race so she was a little apprehensive whether or not
she would even be able to finish the long stages, after the 7km Prologue on the
first day, the race crams the rest of the
461km into the remaining 4 days (making for good long days of
racing!). Lynette was very pleased
with her results. In her race comments
to her Peaks Coach, Karen Mackin, she said, "This is the first time I've
been so close to the front and could see when the attacks were happening, so I
was prepared and could go with the surges!". The remaining stages were a bit more
challenging where the hills really shattered the field. Lynette stayed strong and was able to hold
off most of the field to land on the Podium in the end. Quite an impressive 5 days of racing!
On another note, Lynette’s husband,
Siong Hing (also coached by Karen Mackin) raced the Elite Field at the same
race and was happy to survive his domestique duties for his team Lapierre Asia
Cycling who's lead rider (Lee Rodgers) took home the Overall GC title.
