Hello Hunter, and Team Peaks,
I thought I'd let you know that I did it! I managed to
finish the Étape du Tour, Annecy - Le Grand Bornand.
It wasn't
pretty, I was slow, but I covered the 170 km and climbed the 5 cols for a
total of almost 4000 meters of vertical gain.
Took me 10h41.
The temperatrure hit 38.8 celcius. That's 101 for you!
There was one categorie 4 col, three catégorie 1, and one Hors catégorie.
The organisers say it was the most challenging Étape since 1993.
The pros
in the Tour de France raced that same route on July 17, and in half my time!
I'm sure I would have given up halfway through this had it not
been for spring camp. Also, it's a good thing I brought my SMP Glider, thanks
Hunter!
Good thing I got down to 180 pounds from 195 at camp!
Also
a good thing I got all your pointers and advice. There is no way I could
have done this without the knowledge and motivation I got from all of you at
camp.
Also, I think I vastly improved my FTP by simply not resting my
'dead' leg on the pedals. My theory is that I was robbing myself of a
significant amount of power because of a 'lazy' pedal stroke. Does that
make sense?
Thanks again to every one of you.
Christian Dognon
