» PCG Athlete, Rene Lashley Takes Second Place – Barbados Cycling Festival Road Race
Sep 13, 2017
The inaugural Barbados Cycling Festival, for both road and
MTB cycling enthusiasts, took place this past week. The six-day event was
designed for cyclists to discover Barbados from an unparalleled
perspective. The culmination of the Festival was a gold 94km and silver 63km road race held this past
weekend. PCG Athlete, Rene Lashley has been racing on Barbados for a
number of years. This season, as a result of very hard training, Rene has
dramatically improved his bike racing but fell a bit short of stepping up onto
the podium.
That was true until this weekend when Rene finished 2nd
place in the silver race. Rene, spent
much of the race driving the peloton by chasing down a 2 rider break.
Eventually, Rene overtook 1 of the riders in the break to capture 2nd
place. In the attached pictures, Rene is the rider in the hi-vis cycling
kit.
Rene is coached by PCG Elite Coach, Brian Murphy.
