Felipe Schaun Machado – Claims Top Step in New Jersey Road Race Championship

 PCG Athlete, Felipe Schaun Machado topped off a long journey from his native country of Brazil, to become the 2017 New Jersey Road Race Champion (Cat 5).  Felipe and his wife came to the US last year from Brazil, where Felipe had raced competitively for a number of years.  After largely being off the bike for a couple years, Felipe got the itch to race competitively again.  Last March he began his training to regain his old form.  Being new to the US bike racing scene, Felipe had to race as a Cat 5.  With dogged determination and hard training, Felipe’s results improved quickly.  Having accumulated enough races to start his upgrade to Cat 4, Felipe wanted to make a big statement racing his last Cat 5 race.  He did that today, by drilling the last 1.5 miles to the finish chasing a rider who jumped early.  Felipe took that rider by a bike length for the Championship!
