Ben Albrecht - nice LandShark - Wins !!
the Masters 35+ Cat 1/2/3 Central Coast Circuit Race #4 on June 10th,
2012. Right from the gun two riders
attacked. One from Alto Velo(Bill) and not sure of the team of second rider.
They only got about 15-20secs. On the 2nd climbing section the pace felt slow
so i gave it a dig. I opened a small gap but the field quickly chased and got
single file. I sat up rather than pull the the race together. On the second lap
the break of 2 was still dangling and in the same spot i made a more serious
attack. I expected the field to be right on me but was hoping a small group
would form. Turned out i was pulling another Alto Velo rider(Dominic) with me
and no one else. We had a big gap so i decided to take him with me to the break
where he had a teammate and would surely work. We quickly caught the break and
started to paceline. Bill of AV popped on the start of lap 3, now we were down
to 3 riders in break. We worked well together. On lap 4 the rider of unknown
team popped. Now it was me and Dominic. I kept the pace high in the flats and
had him lead most of the climbs. With half a lap to go right at the base of the
rollers we were caught by two chasers: craig of art's and josh from audi. I
immediately went to the back. Half way through the rollers craig put in a dig,
I followed and countered. we had a small gap but the group came back together.
After the descent and right before the final turn Dominic found himself on the
front. He conceded to lead out the sprint. I had his wheel, craig had mine and
then josh was last. As soon as we went through the last turn i opened up my
sprint and was able to hold it to the line for the win. Fun day!
