» Andrew McLaren First Place in Salibury
Aug 31, 2018
2018 Comeback Complete!
Coach Bill Gross Sends: "My client Andrew McLaren wins the Category 4 Salisbury
Circuit Race on Saturday, August 25th, Andrew had a crash in a mid-March race
landing hard on his backside and fractured a lumbar vertebra. This put his
schedule on hold for six weeks in which the only thing possible was orders from
his doctor and physical therapy provider. Andrew stayed as fit as would be
allowed and with slight pushes in workouts over the final two weeks of his
recovery, Andrew returned to structured bike training in early May with continued
PT work. His CTL had dropped to 40 from a high of 80 at the time of the crash.
Andrew built himself up to compete twice in July, that included a 5th place
finish, before heading to France for a riding vacation with his wife
Robin.
Upon his return from France, Andrew competed at the Benchmark
Classic on August 11th with solid fitness and nabbed a second place in the
Cat.4 race for the second year in succession. With a high level of
confidence heading to Salisbury, Andrew took charge of the final lap staying
forward of the group through the final corners and the final sprint to the line
to take the victory. Congratulations Andrew!"
