Mallick sprinted to 3rd place in the final sprint to earn 5th place in the Elite Points race with the help of Team Giant India
teammates, Rajnish Mishra, Surender Kukna, Parikshit Sharma. The pace was high
from the start on the loop of just 2.1 km. The field started with 40 riders,
but by the 5th lap the front group had been whittled down to just 8. “Parikshit
and I were in this front group of 8…I was able to pull the bunch for a few
laps, breakaway and contest the final sprint at the finish. I lost out by a
wheel length.”
