Congratulations
to Ralph Sigg on his 1st place win in the Tour of Friendship
(Thailand)! On stage one, a short 7km TT,
Ralph posted the best time by 2 seconds. He was one of the only riders NOT riding all the high-tech aero, go-fast
gadgets.
Stages
two and three were flat stages that favored the sprinters in the field and
Ralph relinquished his lead. He stayed
close, however, and on stage 3 captured a time bonus which limited his
losses.
Stages four and five had
significant climbs near the end. This is
Ralph’s favored terrain, as he is from Switzerland. On stage 4 Ralph road away
from the field on the last climb, capturing the KOM and the stage win. His aggressiveness on the climb netted him 30
seconds on 2nd and 15 seconds in time bonuses. This is all Ralph needed to secure the leader’s
jersey and the top step on the podium.
Congratulations,
Ralph! All the hard work, AC efforts, and changing your training focus really
paid off!
Now it’s on to your next events and your favorite terrain: the Alps, the Dolomites and the Pyrenees!
