The
Gatorade Bici Hill Climb took place in Caracas, Venezuela on February 8th
and had an incredible number of PCG athletes not only participate, but dominate
the race!
Tomas
Gil, professional cyclist on the Yellow Fluo Italian Team, and former winner of
Tour of Venezuela dominated the Gatorade Bici Hill Climb with a time of 17:44
and watts per Kilogram of 6.0 for the climb!
Gilbert DuCournau of the USA based InterMountain/Live Well Team placed 3rd, while Miguel Ubeto of the
Venezuelan National Team placed 4th.
Tomas, Gilbert and
Miguel are all coached by Hunter Allen. This is incredible early season
domination and all three riders are coming off the 10 day Vuelta a Tachira race
earlier in Mid-January.
In
addition, PCG athlete Fran Diaz took 2nd (Coached by Brig Brandt), resulting in a podium sweep! Read about his performance here.
Arturo
Beltran, a 15 year old junior, placed 7th overall! He is a talent
to watch for the future. He is coached by PCG Coach Salvatore Cali.
