Silas Moorefield took
the series win this past Sunday. Here is a report from his father, Michael:
“Good finish today in
Asheville…Silas Moorefield came in fourth but that was good enough to clinch
1st place in the Cat 3 NCCX men’s best of 15 series final race today @ Biltmore
House. The course was pretty clean and dry which is unusual this time of the year.
Highs were in the 40s and the sun shone brightly. This will be the site of the
2015 US Cycling National course so it was a good chance to try out the venue
for the first time.
He ran in 1st place with
several lead changes back and forth with Hayden Miller and Cecillio and was
solidly in 2nd place before he dropped his chain and had to make a quick
repair. Silas was able to finish fourth in the race. Hayden Miller, from
Raleigh, did really well today as the strongest rider in the field. He was able
to finish 3rd overall in the series by a great effort today and during the past
two week-ends with his first 1st place win of the season….
Silas did awesome in his
first full season and considering he is only 15 years old. He has been
fortunate to have had a ton of help from Travis Beam at Liveit Xtreme, Justin
McKean, Kristen Dieffenbach, his coach from Peak Coaching Group, and many
others. Thanks to Brad York for the photography and to Chris Hoke from WSIC, Adam
Houston from Statesville Record and Landmark, and David Freeze for training and
the Salisbury Post articles. Silas is looking for a great Mountain bike season
with the US Cup starting on March 9th and Nationals to be held in Bear Creek,
PA in July.”
Congratulations, Silas!
