Continuing his great road race season, Jake Allegrini podiumed with a 3rd place overall at the Green Mountain Stage Race this past weekend in the Cat 4/5 Masters.  With four stages in four days, the Green Mountain Stage Race is the largest Pro/AM stage race east of the Mississippi!

Day 1 was the 5.7m TT, where Jake finished 37secs back in 6th place, ready to pounce the next day at the 53mile circuit race.  Despite only having one teammate up against the race leader's 6 teammates, Jake took the sprint and valuable bonus seconds to move into 3rd overall after day 2.

Day 3 was the queen stage of the race, the Mad River Road Race, 70miles and 3235ft of vertical gain, including the finishing climb up App Gap! Riding in the Sprint leaders jersey, it was a cat and mouse game all day long as the leaders were all waiting for the finishing climb, a category 2 ball buster.  By the time the leaders hit the climb it was everyman for himself and Jake ultimately finished 2nd on the day and moved another step up the podium to 2nd overall, 60secs behind the leader.

The final criterium on Day 4 was going to be tough with the dominate team of the leader being able to control the race and even sending one of their teammates up the road with a substantial gap by the end of the race.  Jake and his solitary Nantucket Velo teammate, ensured that a top 3 spot was secured and ended the day just 56secs back from the overall win and 24secs from 2nd.

For just his first season in road racing, Jake is now on the verge of a Cat 3 upgrade and has won two races out of just six that he has entered!  Now cross season approaches.......
