Coming
off of a win in the Grand Rapids 70.3 just two weeks ago, Nick Stanko put
together a complete race to win the USAT MidEast Regional Championships Olympic
distance race. Nick started the day off with a personal best Olympic
distance swim. Out of T1, he then put his head down and got to work on
the bike. He also put down another personal best for the Olympic distance
on the bike by coming into T2 at 57:20. He set out of T2 to run down his
final two competitors. He got both of them before the halfway mark and
had to set his own pace. The run was on 90% dirt road and 10% trail, so,
the 33:15 10k was faster than it seemed on paper. Nick is looking to
extend this string of strong performances at long course distances over the
next two races.
