In this past weekends world championships, from
Molokai to Oahu, Dr. Arnot won not one, but two categories making him a
double world champion. The waves were so huge in the ocean that multiple
times he was tossed up to 20 feet off his board.
Dr. Arnot said, “Toughest world
championships in history across the world's most dangerous ocean passage from
Molokai to Oahu. 92 Solo entrants started the race only 59 finished
against crushing side swells, epic currents and an ocean that looked like the
bottom of Niagara Falls. Of 268 starting teams and solo entrants nearly 100 dropped out.
I was strong the whole way with tons of reserve at the end. Hammered the
last hour. No cramps. Excellent fueling. No fatigue.
Just picked to wrong line and could no paddle as hard as I wanted against
the side swells. Literally picked up by one 20 foot wave after the other
and pitched into the sea. Thanks to Hunter for the excellent training plan,
coaching and outstanding pacing strategy. Using a GPS device to record
all of my training sessions really made a huge difference in understanding the
demands of my SUP races and also planning a pacing strategy.”
