This
past weekend, Nick Stanko put together a solid race to finish his first half
ironman with an overall win in 4:07 under windy conditions. Being
Michigan, the water was still pretty cold, so, Nick came out of the water down
a bit on the first swimmer. That being said, once on the bike, he got
down to business pulling everyone back except the lone leader. He got off
the bike in 2nd place overall and looking for the win, but immediately felt
something was wrong with his foot. It's still not clear what was wrong,
and it will take some medical tests to find out. That being said, he put
it out of his mind, though, and proceeded to lay down a comfortable series of
5:45 miles to run down the leader in convincing fashion and finish with a
1:13:58 for the half marathon and the overall win.
