Ryan Sullivan finished in 4th place in
the individual omnium in Division I at the Collegiate Road National
Championship in Ogden, Utah.
Racing for Cumberland University, Ryan
finished 10th in the criterium out of 130 racers, and 11th in the road race out
of 160 racers. Ryan was active on the
front of the criterium in several unsuccessful breakaways, and while he’s not a
sprinter he still managed to sit on the front of the final laps and hold on to
11th. In the road race he was Cumberland’s
protected rider before the decisive 4 mile climb up through North Ogden
Divide. Ryan was with the leaders for
most of the climb but the pack split near the top. A small group formed a chase on the descent
back into town where he out-sprinted them for 11th. Last season Ryan was the individual national
champion in Division II, so this success in Division I shows his ability to be
consistent and rise to the occasion.
