Racing Floyd Bennett Field on Tuesdays is a NYC staple and the competition is fierce!
Coached by PCG Coach Todd Scheske, Salvatore took lessons of previous races, coupled with his fitness and some recent planned recovery and delivered a powerful win. The field was eager to chase any attempts at a break the whole race, so Salvatore remained patient, looking for a promising move--but not wasting energy either.
Then in the final lap as everyone was conceding a field sprint, he took the race by the horns, attacked into he final turn some 500 meters from the finish and coming into a headwind! He went with conviction and never looked back.
While the hesitation behind opened his gap and the inevitable sprint came, it was too little too late and Salvatore held off the hard charging pack to score his first victory!
