On the tail of a
silver medal in the individual pursuit at USAC Masters Track Nationals, Jack
Kelso traveled to Manchester England to compete in the Masters Track World
Championships. First up on the agenda was the team sprint. Jack had
been suffering with a bad case of the flu the few days before boarding the
plane, but he gutted it out and he and his USA teammates rode very strongly to
take the bronze medal. With a couple more days to recover from his
illness, he then prepped for the team pursuit. Team USA rode a strong
race, but came up against a well drilled Danish team and ended up with a well-deserved
silver medal. On the final day, the week of racing, and the several days
off due to the pre-race illness probably caught up to Jack. He rode
valiantly in the individual pursuit, but didn't make the finals. All in
all though, a very satisfying World Championships that resulted in two
medals.
Congratulations Jack!
