Siong
Hing finished in 4th place at the TriFactor 40k Mass Start bike race in Singapore on June
8th 2014. Siong described the competition as very strong with "several
with riders with thighs the girth of my waist!" He said jokingly, "I
knew it would be a bunch sprint on the flat and fast course with several
favorites destined to win." His goal/strategy was to improve his odds with
some hard attacks to help whittle the field down. After multiple attacks
including 2 of his own, the group was shrunk to 12-15 riders. Coming down the
home stretch, and having nothing to lose, Siong attacked one more time and
opened a gap! Unfortunately, he was
swarmed right at the line, in what he described as "the last most painful
10-15m of my life!” Although he was a little disappointed in missing the glory of the Podium, his valiant
effort certainly paid off in a spectacular finish to watch! And hey, 4th place is pretty awesome! Congratulations!
