In the 3 stage Tour de Mont Pleasant,
Gary Painter set the early standard in the 45+ race by winning the first stage
TT. He went on to ride aggressively in
the second stage criterium to post his second win in as many days. Starting the third stage road race as a
marked man and race leader, he waited patiently for the field to fatigue and
attacked half way through the 54 mile race.
He drove the two man break out to a 3 min lead over the field before
winning the third race in three days and the genera classification.
