Some vacations are meant to relax - others are meant to challenge. Bruce Rychlik chose the latter, making the Rapha RANDONNÉE DOLOMITI from June 2 - June 9th his "A" event for the spring. His quick look at the weeks totals included "15 major climbs [longest at 2 hours and 20 minutes (Stelvio)], 31:28:48 on the bike, 480.67 miles, 41,031 feet of climbing" He adds, "it’s a lot if you add it all up but it was really enjoyable and was good for the head." He trained hard this spring pushing his threshold up to an all time high, and commented on how this year he felt like he had improved significantly over previous years "challenge vacations". The photo is of Bruce riding up the Campolongo (5% average gradient, 6.1km) - which he won the sprint to the KOM! After that they continued on to scale the Passo Pordoi (6.8% average gradient, 9.4km) as a part of a 93.75 mile day.
