Optum pro Carter Jones continued his streak of impressive results in UCI races at the Tour de Beauce by placing 3rd on the brutal stage 2 that finished on the Mont-Megantic climb.  The 167 km stage was raced mostly in the rain that added insult to injury over the long hard day.  On the final 4 km climb, remnants of the original break of the day still had over 2 minutes in hand.  The main peloton splintered as attacks began on the lower slopes of the final climb that averaged in the double digit grades.  Jones attacked to chase down the leaders and got a gap, but near that top, probably needed more climbing friendly gears as the grades topped out above 19%.  The 3rd place on the stage moved him into 3rd place on GC as well.
